Empowering Future Leaders Across Optimo Care Group: A Commitment to Excellence in Care

Optimo Care Group

At Optimo Care Group, we believe that exceptional leadership is key to providing outstanding care. That’s why we are so proud of the Leadership Development Programme (LDP), which ran through 2024 as the inaugural initiative of our new Learning Academy.

This programme was designed to enhance the skills, confidence, and capabilities of our managers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth across our organisation.

A Year of Learning, Connection, and Growth

Over the course of 10 monthly sessions, our leaders participated in interactive and engaging learning experiences, held at Oldham Athletic Football Club Events Centre. These sessions combined fun activities like role-play, quizzes, and team-building exercises, all aimed at developing the key areas essential for effective leadership within Optimo Care Group.

Our management team played an active role in facilitating these sessions, ensuring that every participant walked away with practical tools and new techniques for improving their leadership skills.

The programme covered critical topics such as:

  • Regulatory Responsibility: Understanding the legal and compliance aspects of leadership in care.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring our leaders can manage the day-to-day demands of care services while maintaining high standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Building the confidence and competence of managers to lead their teams effectively.

These modules were crafted to ensure our managers are not just equipped to handle their day-to-day responsibilities but are also inspired to take on new challenges and opportunities for growth.

Real Impact: Feedback from Our Leaders

The success of the programme is best reflected in the feedback from those who participated. Here’s what some of our incredible leaders had to say:

  • Lynn Pass, Registered Manager at Choices Homecare (Oldham): “The LDP was very informative. It gave me new insight into being a leader, with techniques to handle my role differently. It was great to meet colleagues from across the wider team and engage with them in a fun, interactive setting.”
  • Nicola Cooper, Registered Manager at Choices Homecare (Sheffield): “Since starting in September, the LDP has taught me so much about Optimo and Choices and the way we work. I’ve learned new techniques that I’ve implemented in my branch with positive outcomes. I’m sad the course is over, as I’ll miss the monthly meetings and the chance to connect with colleagues from other branches.”
  • Hayley Kitchener, Registered Manager at My Life Choice: “As someone who was new to Optimo at the start of the programme, it was invaluable to meet other managers and feel part of the wider team. The course created a supportive environment where we could share challenges and learn from each other. It’s been a great experience for anyone looking to grow their career.”

A Commitment to Continuous Learning

The Leadership Development Programme is part of Optimo Care Group’s broader commitment to fostering continuous learning across all divisions, including Choices Homecare, My Life Choice, Abbeycare, CFT Care, and Stepping Stones Services. By empowering our leaders with the skills and support they need, we’re investing in the future of care, ensuring that the teams they lead have the guidance, confidence, and resources necessary to deliver exceptional care.

We’re proud of all the managers who participated in the programme and the impact it’s already having on our services. At the end of their year-long journey, participants received their certificates in a ceremony led by Tracy Walshaw, Regional Director for Yorkshire, and Ryan Brummitt, Managing Director of Specialist Services.
