Optimo Care Group Joins the Restraint Reduction Network
Strengthening our commitment to safe, ethical and person-centred support
Optimo Care Group is pleased to announce that we have become an organisational member of the Restraint Reduction Network.
The Restraint Reduction Network brings together organisations and individuals committed to reducing unnecessary restrictive practices and promoting services that are safe, dignified and respectful of people’s rights.
Becoming a member reflects Optimo Care Group’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, ethical and person-centred care and support across our services.

What does restraint reduction mean?
Restrictive practices can take different forms and may limit a person’s freedom, choice or control. While interventions may sometimes be required to maintain safety, our focus is always on prevention and using the least restrictive approach possible.
This means taking the time to understand each person, including their communication, needs, experiences, environment and the reasons they may be distressed.
Through person-centred planning, Positive Behaviour Support and proactive approaches, we aim to reduce the need for restrictive interventions and help the people we support experience greater dignity, independence and quality of life.

Supporting continuous learning and improvement
Membership of the Restraint Reduction Network gives our colleagues access to current guidance, learning resources, research and opportunities to learn from sector experts and other organisations.
This will help us to:
– Continue developing our approach to restraint reduction
– Strengthen Positive Behaviour Support across our specialist services
– Share learning and best practice across the Group
– Support colleagues with current guidance and resources
– Promote dignity, choice and human rights
– Continue improving outcomes for the people we support
Our membership complements the wider quality, governance and learning arrangements already in place across Optimo Care Group.

Our ongoing commitment
Joining the Restraint Reduction Network is another important step in our commitment to continuous improvement.
We will continue working with colleagues, the people we support, families and professional partners to promote safe, respectful and empowering support.
Our aim is clear: to reduce and, wherever possible, eliminate unnecessary restrictive practices while creating environments in which people feel understood, valued and able to live with greater choice and control.
